The greatest discovery in Religious Studies, and in the history of Judaism and Christianity reached an important milestone – the 75th anniversary. We were delighted to welcome Professor Gary Rensburg, Blanche and Irving Laurie Chair in Jewish History at Rutgers University, USA, to present The Dead Sea Scrolls at 75: The Text, Their Contexts, and the Coalescence of Jewish and Christian Scholarship.
The Revd Dr Andrew Bowyer, Dean of Divinity at Magdalen college, opened the session and welcomed the audience. Revd Dr John Goldingay presented the organiser of the event – the Oxford Interfaith Forum, and spoke about his first encounter with the Forum. Professor Alison Salvesen introduced the speaker. Professor Rensburg delivered a fascinating lecture recalling an international saga, and people related to the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Our deep gratitude to Revd Dr Andrew Bowyer, Dean of Divinity, and Magdalen College for their generous hospitality
