Dr Elizabeth Macintosh is a Teacher and Lecturer of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Winchester College, University of
Winchester and Embley School, Hampshire.
We welcomed Dr Elisabeth Macintosh and her students from the Embley School on their interfaith educational trip to Oxford. Dr Macintosh designed, coordinated and led several interfaith trips to Oxford as her part of the Visits and Community Engagement Programme. We introduced our work to the GCSE students, and discussed with them a recent guest Professor Lisa Miller, and her initiative Awakened Spirituality in schools. Professor Miller’s book, ‘The Awakened Brain’, has been selected as the Study Book the students will read this summer and will be the text under review in the College Reading Group upon their return in September. Extracts from this book have already been used as a stimulus during the recent College Enrichment Week Philosophy/Reflective Walk. This was to give the pupils an opportunity to reflect prior to taking part in a National ‘Spirited Arts’ in Religious Education Competition offered by the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education.
Dr Macintosh said:
The influence, positive power and support of the Oxford Interfaith Forum was felt in all of the communities we visited, and we were delighted to be able to build on that. The impact of the Forum is quite remarkable and I cannot thank Thea and her team enough for their inspiration and guidance.
Each member of the group received a free copy of Prof Miller’s book
